After more than 20 years and his eight films (two of which are yet to be released), Tom Cruise may finally be completing his highly successful Mission Impossible franchise.
According to recent reports, Tom has retired from the series, and his two upcoming films will be released to say goodbye to Tom’s iconic character Ethan on his hunt.
However, the film’s director, Christopher McQuarrie, advises fans to take these reports with caution: His first mission, The Impossible movie, came out in 1996 and established Tom as an action star.
It became a big hit. His six films released to date have grossed a combined $3.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
A two-story ark is currently in production, with Dead Reckoning Part 1 coming out in 2023 and Dead Reckoning Part 2 coming out in 2024.
According to Variety’s report, the film is meant to be a farewell to Tom’s character and a “highlight” in the series.
He said: A person witnessed the incident and read about it at the store the next day, but what they are saying is not actually true.
Christopher added that these rumors are spread by people with an ‘agenda’. “If you read an ‘anonymous source’ or a ‘production-related source,’ they say it’s the person who publishes it.
There’s a reason for that,” he said. Dead Reckoning Part 1 is set to hit theaters on July 14, 2023.
Starring alongside Tom are Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shay Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney and Henry. Czerny, Cary Elwes.
