In a world that is filled with fake news and mindless content, it is very important to keep a close watch on what kind of media we are watching. There is a need for us as a society to be more informed both about domestic as well as international issues and this can only happen when we are aware of the type of content we consume. Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms in India with a userbase of over 290 million Indians, which makes it the leading country in Facebook’s audience size. For such a wide audience, there is an equally wide number of content creators and pages which promote on Facebook. Out of these hundreds of thousands of pages, there will only be a few which offer something which makes the India of tomorrow, a safer and better-informed place. One such page is Mera Bharat Mahan.
Mera Bharat Mahan, which was founded and managed by friend duo Vikas Raj and Muzzammil Mannan, is basically a portal by which the common Indian can stay updated about what all is happening in any corner of India. Apart from the above, Mera Bharat Mahan is also a site where any willing person can donate to help those in need, especially those who were affected the most in the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown. The duo has started the portal, Mera Bharat Mahan under the banner of F5 Entertainment Media Pvt Ltd.
Actually, the global pandemic is also the reason behind the creation of the page. During the beginning of 2020, when the virus had just begun spreading worldwide, Vikas, while browsing through the internet one day, came across a portal called “USA Today”. This was a Facebook page with live updates from all over the country with the express purpose of keeping the countrymen informed about lockdown restrictions, new cases and the likes. The idea had at the time, left Vikas Raj quite impressed- but the young man had no idea that one day, creating such a page would become a grave necessity.
In March 2020, India declared a state of complete lockdown to combat the spread of the coronavirus. This move took away the livelihoods of many, especially those who survived on a hand-to-mouth subsistence. It also exposed many frontline healthcare workers and other essential service providers to the dangers of the disease. Vikas Raj and Muzzammil Mannan had been always involved in environmental and societal consciousness campaigns and had participated in tree plantation, social media drives and so on in the past. They continued to show their dedication and passion in this topic and made the page successful with their patience and unwavering effort. For all their hard work, Mera Bharat Mahan was awarded the title of India’s Best Content Page in August 2020.
Mera Bharat Mahan has definitely done justice to its purpose of providing information and helping those in need- and has overall, played a big role in making the pandemic situation a bit more manageable. Presently, it has more than 10 million followers and the page continues to grow every day, creating awareness one person at a time.
