Actor Sam Neill has been writing screenplays for nearly 50 years in an era fueled by Hollywood blockbusters such as The Hunt for Red October and Jurassic Park. But he doesn’t like staying in Hollywood because he gets annoyed.
The actor lives in a well-known farm and winery in the Otago region of Central New Zealand. “I went to Hollywood with my family and stayed for maybe two years. But I didn’t like living there. I love working there and enjoy everything about the film industry there. I have many friends there. But that’s not where I want to live,” says Neil. why? “My real home is my farm in New Zealand. There I have the best rest and I produce wine there. I have all my lovely animals, we grow our own fruits and vegetables.Everything is organic. It’s the other half of my life,” he explains.
The 74-year-old continued, “The thing that bothered me about Hollywood was that people only cared about show business. I’m not really into show business. It gave me a good life. I like acting and movies, but I’m not interested in the entertainment industry. I don’t care what works at the box office. I do not care. And I don’t care who the new star is as long as I don’t work with them. I’m just not interested in the entertainment industry,” he said. “It’s different from life as an actor. Not living there gives me this distance and I don’t have to think about things that aren’t really important.” speaks.
In fact, after completing his project in Pipeline, the Jurassic World Dominion actor will be taking a break from acting and working on his memoir. According to Neil, writing a memoir about his life doesn’t mean his life is “really special.” “But I think it’s really exciting. I write about the time I spent in India and Rajasthan. It was a series of accidents that got me into acting. Until I was 29. I never became a full-time actor. So I find writing about it very cathartic. So I would like to give him some time.
