Netflix is suing lyrical pair Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear after they conducted their unlicensed Bridgerton-inspired musical at the Kennedy Center.

Bridgerton is the Netflix platform’s famous Regency fantasy show based on the book sequel of the exact phrase by Julia Quinn. Although each season concentrates on the fantasy of a distant component of the large Bridgerton clan. At foremost, they acted to be in a connection before creating genuine emotions for one another, all supervised over like a hawk by the weird fiction columnist Lady Whistledown.

Soon after the getaway of Bridgerton season 1 in December 2020, Emily Bear and Abigail Barlow wrote songs motivated by the show that they started to release on TikTok. Netflix kept the work, sharing a video from TikTok on their Twitter and declaring they were –absolutely blown away. The music evolved from a fan-created bit of joy into a for-profit industry, including an album that evolved to #1 on the iTunes U.S. Pop charts. The whole album, titled The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical, eventually went on to win the Best Musical Theater Album Grammy Award in early 2022.

Per Deadline, Barlow & Bear just staged “The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical Album Live in Concert” at the famous Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in a show of a sold-out gathering. In reaction, Netflix has sued them for copyright violation. Netflix had earlier alerted the pair to not function the theme without getting a claim to do so, something the authorized court records state that they were ready to deal with but was rejected by Barlow & Bear.

Netflix released a statement that We’ve tried mightily to work with Barlow & Bear, and they have declined to unite. The creators, cast, writers, and crew have flowed their hearts and souls into Bridgerton, and we’re taking the effort to defend their privileges.
