The Gray Man Review: Russo Brothers Ryan Gosling Movie Is A Two Hours Migraine

In the middle of a two-hour episode of the  Russo Brothers’ latest big-budget action movie, The Gray Man, I felt something was  missing. There were explosions, shootouts, actions, and even funny dialogues, but I felt they were incomplete. And  it hit me. For the last 30 minutes, I unknowingly waited to hear the iconic mission: an impossible theme. Because it’s Grayman in nature-MI minus Tom Cruise’s charm and all the  iconic moments. This exhilarating ride is popcorn entertainment, but it’s a bit confusing, not compatible with its predecessor in this genre, or  its stellar cast.

Based on Mark Greaney’s best-selling novel of the same name, Gray Man follows the infamous Sierra Six (Ryan Gosling), a CIA mercenary who  turned his back on the agency. As a result, he is now being chased by his insane ex-colleague Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) and almost every mercenary in the world (a truly diverse cast, including Dhanush and Wagner Moura). .. With a reported budget of $ 200 million, this is the most expensive Netflix movie ever.

This is also the first movie directed by the Russo Brothers (Anthony and Joe) since the Avengers Endgame. All of this and the Tier A cast have made it one of the most anticipated movies of the year. But the end result is unfortunately unconvincing. The story is simple, but the action is chaotic, the background music is loud, and some of the movie’s decisions are really mysterious. Many will compare  Gray Man  to the disadvantage of Russo’s MCU movie. The MCU had a great VFX that often obscured script flaws when they were flawed. Looking at the climax of the endgame battle, I can’t help but be impressed. In fact, looking at any of Russo’s previous hits, they were full of iconic moments.

Captain America raises Mjolnir in the endgame, Thor arrives in Wakanda in Infinity War, Black Panther chases the tunnel  in the civil war, Bucky stops the cap shield with the Winter Soldier.  There is a possibility. The gray man lacks it. There are no noticeable, breathtaking moments or scenes. It’s a great movie, but one that you may not stick to you as you get older.
