The work of creative genius always has a central motive – a motive of reaching the infinite and eternal through the finite and the transitory. So, the soul yearns to express in the light of the common day what it dimly felt in its loneliness. The inner world is invaded by “the eternal” or infinite and the “transitory” or finite. The common day is enriched by the spiritual “inner” and every man’s life expanded beyond the isolated limits of time and space.
Poetry is the simplest way to get philosophical. It is the most basic form of art. It is also the most direct way that a soul communicates with another. Beautiful poetry has a way of stirring the deepest part of our hearts and soul. It is the most effective form of communication. It is the language of our soul. Poetry has the power to change our lives.
Please read these poems and let’s talk about the poet who has written these beautiful lines.
The Coup At The Kingdom of Corinth
And when realized they other forces may
In moderate vengeance to save the day,
Diogenes prepared all for his state
To bring these moderates to a gone flight,
So the new structure can be all in strength
Without the compromise of any length.
Bloody bath painted the glass on the floor
With other sword to compromise for more
To the point other side was man himself
Since the more of people brought hysterics.
And with hysterics brought other people
To only make slaughter the steeple
Without any knowing of the leader
Of dreadful appearance of the people
Kollin Kennedy brings the best out of the two worlds here. His poem stands tall at the confluence of philosophy and literature. The poem discusses the relevance of Diogenes and the repeating pattern of history. Mythology seems like a great element that makes his poems so sharp, his poems cut deep and pierce through your conscience making a long-lasting effect and it is the same element that sparks the interest among his reader base. Have a look at his second poem.
The Passion of Jocasta
Though in great reluctance in receiving,
Too much of a truth creates a breeding
Of great emotions to serve the air
And a passion to make every a prince stare
In Jocasta, who wishes the latter
Of her king’s death that calls cancel to sadder
And a life that is for him to protect
And not a worry but the call & beck.
But to keep the likely like of a queen
She began denial of what seems
In creating reason without fates,
Without foundation that serves the purpose late.
And continued her in a twitching game
That gives the sanity to the one that’s sane.
Kollin Kennedy said in his own words, “ These are just excerpts from the collection. The collection is meant to be read as a whole and it’s important to read it in its entirety so nothing would be taken out of context. However, this doesn’t exclude the fact these poems can be read individually, since as I’ve said before, these poems are also a psychological study for me, in order for me to figure out what is going on in these characters and how their personalities interact with the environment around them and nature, as it relates to other human natures.
Part of this was influenced by Shakespeare, since most of his soliloquies spoke plenty of the characters psyche and inner most thoughts. But I felt like a lot of poetry never took advantage of this in smaller formats of poetry, so I decided to use the sonnet format for this collection, and the sonnet is my main form of writing for poetry. I feel as if the sonnet is more versatile than simply bound to the usage of love poetry.”
Kollin Kennedy said that as of now, he is going to stick to Sonnets as he hopes to write more of them. He said that Sonnets are really powerful if used properly and he doesn’t plan on using many more poetry formats as it will make the collection lose its purity.
Inspired by James Joyce, Kollin Kennedy said that he plans on implementing stream of consciousness writing with this collection.
After reading his brilliant work, we are eagerly waiting for his collection to drop and we certainly hope that we will be able to find more gems like these in the collection.
