Real Smokesta Talks About Why Signing to Spice 1 & Q Bosilini Was Better Than a Major Label

The music business is a tough business, one you cannot have soft skin if you want to succeed. Artists today have been more successful independent then they would be with a major label. Social Media and plain technology have made it so you can be successful if you know how to use the tools correctly. When navigating the business, you sometimes find someone or a whole team who genuinely want to see you win and want to provide the tools to make that happen.

Real Smokesta is one of those artists that found that team. 2020 was a challenging and stress year for everybody due to Covid but for Real Smokesta it took a bigger toll. Imagine dealing with the pandemic, national lockdown, losing both parents and no way to release the pain in the form of showcases. This was his experience but with all that Real Smokesta found a family/team in Thug World South. Signing to Spice 1 & Q Bosilini’s label couldn’t come a long at a better time. Truly a definition of God’s plan. “Thug World South is a diverse label. You got artists that can rap, sing, and produce beats”.

What was important for Real Smokesta was the fact that he can control his own creativity, own his masters all while having the freedom to be himself. Thug World South provides him with the same resources major labels that give you less can provide. Under his label his single “its Your Time” (Feat Spice 1, El Debarge Jr & Q Bosilini ) became a Top 200 National Charting success. He has drop two debut albums and had the opportunity to release a slowed & Chopped version by DJ Red of Screwed Up Records and Tapes.

“I knew it was going to be a slow process when I’d signed up. Most artist want quick success and you don’t learn anything from that. The music industry can be a long-term business if you play your cards right and often you got to be humble until it’s your turn. We are a team and family. The deal was set up for me to be a boss and feed my family and that’s what I’m learning.” The saying from solid individuals is keep working till it works, stay ten toes down, all gas no breaks. These are essential to your success in anything in life but even more in the music business.

When you believe in yourself, you find it easier to find others who believe in you too. Real Smokesta is the true definition of trusting the process.
