Kumail Nanjiani, star of Marvel Studios’ Eternals, wants to see his character, Kingo, battle alongside Simu Liu’s MCU character, Shang-Chi. Eternals is the latest Marvel movie to be released and it comes from Academy Award-winning director Chlo Zhao. Regardless of its star-studded cast and ambitious reason, the film immediately became the most troublesome film in the whole MCU franchise. Zhao’s film has been dependent upon a wide variety of reactions some are certified, (for example, the individuals who felt that Zhao’s auteur sensibilities clashed with the blockbuster feel of the MCU) while others are more in bad faith, (for example, the people who loathed the film’s incorporation of gay characters).
Since Kingo has finally made his onscreen debut, Nanjiani appears to be excited about connecting his character up with his other Asian MCU co-stars. Because of Liu’s new praise of Eternals, Nanjiani tweeted, “Thanks bud. Kingo, Shang Chi team up?” Check out the actor’s tweet beneath:
Although Nanjiani’s tweet was logical jokingly, a Kingo and Shang-Chi team-up may in all likelihood be conceivable. Some speculated that Shang-Chi’s post-credits scene, which establishes the mystical Ten Rings as a type of intergalactic beacon, may have connections to the Eternals and their Celestial masters. However no such association was established in Zhao’s film, it’s conceivable that this may turn into an unmistakable plot point in the future especially considering the writers’ choice to keep Eternals relatively insular from the remainder of the MCU. The film’s writers looked to delay the gathering between the Eternals and the Avengers with the goal that their first gathering could have more weight down the line; perhaps Shang-Chi will be an out and out Avenger when such a gathering is conceivable.
Right now, it’s hard to foresee where and when such a hybrid could take place. If it does without a doubt work out as expected, ideally the payoff will be as satisfying as the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers’ first gathering in Quite a while: Infinity War. Up to that point, Eternals will remain isolated in its own unmistakable corner of the broader Marvel universe.
