Jessica Henwick, the star of The Matrix Resurrections, reveals what it resembled to shoot under chief Lana Wachowski. The cast of Matrix Resurrections is once again driven by Keanu Reeves, who returns as the protagonist Neo/Thomas Anderson from the original movies. He will be joined by Carrie-Anne Greenery and Jada Pinkett-Smith, who will also be reprising their jobs as Trinity and Niobe, individually. The new additions to the cast include Henwick as Bugs, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Morpheus, in addition to Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Christina Ricci.
In a new interview with Collider, Henwick talked for a long time about what it resembled filming under Wachowski’s unconventional strategies. The actress had high praise for Wachowski, who helmed the original Matrix set of three along with her sister, Lilly, lauding the chief’s creativity and “strong vision.” Henwick said Wachowski is not normal for anyone she’s consistently worked with, and detailed the various “instinctive” strategies that Wachowski utilized to keep the nature and pace of the filming fast-paced. The actress elaborated further on the filmmaker’s problematic yet accommodating nature when shooting a scene, which features her “adaptability” as a chief.

“[Wachowski is] exceptionally creative, and she has an incredibly, strong vision. She doesn’t work like any of the chiefs I’ve worked with. She adores running takes, so we’ll regularly go 20 minutes without a single cut … Everyone had to know that it was 360 [degrees of coverage] at all occasions. She would stand close to the operator and she would shoot. Keanu is speaking and she’s shooting. She’s handling the camera, zooming in on him, and then she would just turn, and unexpectedly the camera will be on you, despite the fact that you’re on the other side of the line. That’s the way she shoots. It’s particularly how she feels in the occasion. It’s exceptionally instinctive for her. It’s fascinating to watch. I’ve never worked with a going such a great amount on chief a premonition … Assuming you can’t be adaptable with a chief like that, there’s no point working together.”
The Matrix Resurrections marks Henwick’s first collaboration with the acclaimed chief. The English actress colored her hair blue and went through some intense physical training in preparation for the job of Bugs. This fills in as a testament to her obligation to the job and also speaks volumes of the allure of an accomplished filmmaker like Wachowski. Fortunately, trailers for The Matrix Resurrections guarantee bounty a greater amount of Wachowski’s signature slow-motion and action-packed set pieces that fans of the franchise have developed to adore and appreciate.
