Jared Leto has revealed that the risky gifts he recently shipped off his Suicide Squad castmates were in the “soul of fun.” Leto starred as The Joker in David Ayer’s 2016 film and later repeated that job in Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021. Regardless of its star-studded cast, which included any semblance of Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, and even a Ben Affleck Batman cameo, the general consensus towards Suicide Squad wasn’t particularly sure. The movie has since gone on to get a delicate reboot, The Suicide Squad, helmed by Guardians of the Galaxy franchise chief James Gunn. The Suicide Squad released earlier this year with a handful of the original cast returning, sans Leto.
Presently, Leto has confirmed that these things were sent “with a feeling of fun and adventure.” Speaking to EW, the actor revealed that these gifts were all “gotten with laughter” and that there was nothing significant about them. The actor even called out a particular gift as false stating that there were “no pre-owned condoms” given to his Suicide Squad castmates. Leto proceeded to reiterate that “nothing at any point crossed any lines.” Look at Leto’s full statement underneath.

“Any of the not very many gifts that were at any point given were given with a feeling of fun and adventure and got with laughter, fun, and adventure, everything’s recorded! They recorded everything! Individuals were dying. We were just having a goof… I’m playing a person called the Joker, it’s okay to play a few jokes. Nothing at any point crossed any lines, and it’s not other individuals on the internet’s place to create those lines… I’m an artist at the day’s end. If I accomplish something risky and you don’t care for it, basically, you can kiss my ass.”
The unconventional gifts were a grandiose talking point surrounding the film’s release, and the cast were much of the time questioned about them in interviews. According to Leto’s point of view, it appears to be none of the cast were particularly uncomfortable with the gifts and that it was viewed as part of building on his Suicide Squad character, who is known for being somewhat bent. With Leto set to star in the upcoming Marvel/Sony film Morbius that will release early one year from now, it will be interesting to check whether he has any vampire-themed gifts for his co-stars this time around.
