Topher Grace responds to a question about his being in Spider-Man: No Way Home for certain very entertaining fake spoilers. Grace made his one and only appearance in a Marvel movie when he played Venom in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3.
It clearly isn’t enough for fans that those three fabled cinematic Spider-Man adversaries in addition to Doctor Strange are all headed to the screen in No Way Home, because when Spider-Man 3 Venom actor Grace did a Reddit AMA via his IamTopherGrace account to promote his show Home Economics, he was immediately hit with questions about his own conceivable participation in the new Spider-Man film. Rather than bat aside the questions with a standard no-remark, Grace went the humorous route and prepared a few spoilers that are clearly fake yet at the same time fun. Grace said:
Please keep it between us however indeed, I am in it. The plot starts with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) freeloaded that everyone knows his character and then, at that point, some crazy s- – t happens with Dr. Strange and Dr. Octopus (Alfred Molina) comes into his dimension. Then, at that point, Electro and the Green Goblin jump out of one of those ‘energy circles’ and they’re similar to “It’s spider stompin time”. Then, at that point, Tom Hardy and I jump out and battle each other and I win (obvi), it resembles not so much as a battle I simply beat him senseless immediately. Not to give too much away however there are also a few actors from the original 70s Spiderman show, Aquaman and Batman (Affleck, not Keaton) crossover, and thanks to Disney Han Solo’s apparition from Rise of Skywalker, and that Eve robot from Wall-E. Again, please keep between us.
Of course a standoff between the two different cinematic versions of Venom would be amazing and hilarious. Be that as it may, such a square-off is probably excessively senseless for the MCU, which of course embraces humor however largely avoids outright self-parody. Sadly fans who wish to see Grace and Hardy throw down on-screen will probably remain disappointed forever. However, a Hardy versus Holland confrontation appears to be more and more inevitable given the way things are creating with Venom 2. Regardless of whether Venom and Spider-Man don’t face-off in Spider-Man: No Way Home, they probably will do as such somewhere not too far off.
