Disney has enlisted The Mandalorian actor Rosario Dawson to join the impending reboot of The Haunted Mansion. The reboot comes after the first Haunted Mansion film in 2003, starring Eddie Murphy and Marsha Thomason. The two films are based on the longtime Disneyland theme park ride, however aside from inspiration, they won’t be connected plotwise.
Deadline reports that Dawson will join The Haunted Mansion movie coordinated by Justin Simien. Dawson will join LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, and Owen Wilson in the impending film. The filmmakers are preparing to start shooting in October. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who delivered the true to life Disney take on Aladdin, will create the forthcoming Haunted Mansion film.
The impending script from The Haunted Mansion will be written by Katie Dippold and will stray away from the 2003 original. In that version of The Haunted Mansion, Murphy and Thomason play realtors hoping to sell a mansion in New Orleans. After getting trapped into staying the night with their kids, the family is helpless before the supernatural figures that haunt the home.
The impending film follows Jungle Cruise in Disney’s revamped ploy to make films out of iconic rides. In the past, the original Haunted Mansion premiered alongside the exceptionally successful Pirates of the Caribbean film, also based on an attraction. While little details are known, The Haunted Mansion remake is sure to make the most out of its star-studded cast. And since 1969, the imaginative Disneyland attraction has given a lot of spooky inspiration to a genuinely bone-chilling film remake.
