RodThaGreat has been having hell of a year. The 19 year old recently dropped 2 tracks this year that secured him a deal and is slowly gaining momentum within the industry and is well on the way to becoming a household name within the underground scene. His lyrics and sound gravitates towards listeners that have an ear for deep, honest, relatable thought. Theres no one around that quiet sounds like the artist. Theres not many others that rap with ascending ferocity and sing hooks about temptation like how he does on “The Garden. “
It’s not common to hear an artist (especially on the younger side) express growing distaste for birthdays as time goes on, as seen on “Birthdays”. While being so different and following a non traditional path from most young artists apart of his age group, the internet throws around names like “Kid Cudi” and young “Kendrick Lamar” from the early days, to describe the artist’s unique sound.
RodThaGreat is showing he has what it takes to be a powerhouse artist in the music game. It’s clear that everything heard from the artist comes straight from the mind and soul. His current run is reminiscent how his rap predescesors started out and should be rapping along the likes of Joey Bada$$, Denzel Curry, Cordae, and artists of that lyrical nature. What drives RodThaGreat is an immense will power and an ability to express RAW thought and emotion underneath a seemingly chill laid back demeanor ,which adds a nice calm factor to whatever is being said.
The Garden showed us that RodThaGreat is capable of delivering lyrical ferocity and deliver aggressive wordplay when he needs to. The Atlanta artist has great potential be one of the best musical acts and one force to be reckoned with in the music scene itself.
RodThaGreat has been teasing an upcoming project that’s been in the works for over a year now which started almost immediately after the release of 2020s “Dark Nights Of The Soul.” He has teased that the next project is indeed a sequel the EP.
