The official trailer for Cry Macho sees Clint Eastwood directing and starring in his latest western show. Based on a screenplay of a similar name by the novelist, N. Richard Nash, who died in 2000, Cry Macho is set during the 1970s and follows a cleaned up rodeo star who fosters a bond with a little youngster from Mexico. Throughout the story, the kid realizes what it intends to take care of business, setting up a perfect opportunity for Eastwood, who is now 91 years old, to pass his insight onto a more youthful generation.
Through their YouTube channel, Warner Bros. Pictures just delivered an official trailer for Cry Macho that sees Eastwood back in the director-star seat. Eastwood stars as Mike Milo, a cleaned up horse raiser and once rodeo star who takes something important to bring his ex-manager’s young child home from Mexico. The far-fetched pair face unexpected challenges along the way, framing a connection between the two of them, just as offering Milo a possibility for redemption. View the full trailer underneath:
Cry Macho likewise stars Eduardo Minett in his feature film debut as Rafo, the young man, Natalia Traven as Marta, and Dwight Yoakam as Howard Polk, Milo’s previous boss. Scratch Schenk wrote the screenplay based on the novel by Nash. This movie denotes the third matching of Schenk and Eastwood, which has demonstrated to be a force to be reckoned with of a team, since Schenk wrote Eastwood’s The Mule and Gran Torino scripts. The film will debut on September 17, 2021 in theaters and on HBO Max for 31 days from its theatrical delivery.
Indeed, even at 91 years old, Eastwood is still starring in and directing critically-acclaimed movies, which is a testament to his energy and drive. While he recently said he wouldn’t make another western, nothing is more notable than seeing him in a rancher hat on the back of a pony. Though his long stretches of fast weapon slinging are a distant memory, it’s evident that Eastwood is returning to his western roots for one more shot at redemption, similar as his character in Cry Macho.
